Our application deadline normally is 1 August. After this date, applications are considered only on the basis of space available. We interview applicants throughout the year, either in person or via telephone. If you have a question about the application process, feel free to ask.

Step 1

Applicants should use the online application system through Imperial College, which administers this process. Hard copy applications are welcome, too, though they tend to be processed slower. Click on "make your application online."

Useful information

The minimum entrance requirement normally is a good second class undergraduate degree from a UK institution, or the equivalent from an overseas institution. Applicants with a 3rd class degree may be considered providing they have at least 3 years relevant work experience after graduation. Our students come from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds, but we do look for evidence of a genuine interest in the fields of study.

Language requirements also apply. For more, follow this link.

You are not required to submit an essay with your application; however the admissions panel may contact you later to ask for a sample of your written work.

If you're nervous about your qualifications or want to convey the importance of your additional life experience, talk with one of our admissions tutors about your application. We'll do what we can to advise you.

Students in the London Centre are registered jointly at Imperial College and at University College London. They have access to all facilities of both institutions. In addition, students have access to the Wellcome Library and the Science Museum Library. The specialist facilities available in and around these universities for the study of the history of science, medicine and technology are unrivalled.
