Graduates of the London Centre Presently, we're undertaking a comprehensive survey of our graduates. Here is a sample of some of the careers our graduates have followed:
General notes Our programme provides essential training and study for students wishing to pursue PhD study in several fields, and also provides appropriate training and qualifications sought by individuals pursuing careers in areas such as education, museum and archival curatorship, or administration and policy-making in science, engineering and health care. Past experience has also shown that there is demand for a good taught master's programme from scientists, engineers and medical professionals who wish to gain a greater critical insight into their own fields, and an understanding of the historical and social contexts of their work. Some students go on to PhD degrees and also to develop careers in many other related fields, including museum work. Admission to a PhD Programme in one of the three component units of the London Centre usually requires that students have performed well in an appropriate Masters course. Exceptions may be made for students who have done a great deal of history of science, technology or medicine as part of a first degree. It is now widely recognised, such as by funding councils, that a specialist Masters course is valuable training for a research career.
